How Solar Electric Systems Work
- Solar Panels are made up of many silicon based solar cells that produce DC electrical power when exposed to sunlight.
- The DC power is then sent to the inverter which converts it to AC or household power.
- The AC power travels from the inverter to the electrical service panel, inside breaker box & throughout your home.
- Computerized control inside the inverter regulates the usage & directs any unused power back to the utility company.
- The extra electricity your system produces beyond your use is sent back to the utility company for a credit at the same rate the utility co. charged you, spinning your utility meter backwards.
- Utility Co. power is automatically provided during the nighttime, cloudy days or during heavy loads from the electricity credit you produced in step #5 above
